Since our projects are always unique and one-of-a-kind, we need a team of experts that can help us solve the problems our projects are designed to resolve. Each team member is a key part of the firm and brings their own unique set of skills and lends their special expertise to each and every project. This includes the principals of our firm, who work closely with our clients, extending to our talented craftsmen who oversee the fabrication of your projects.

Brian McAlonie, Vice President, Client Services
For over 20 years, Brian McAlonie has utilized his broad range of expertise in the communications, museum studies, and design fields to assist clients with creating engaging and profitable visitor service experiences. Brian balances both the strategic and creative needs of each client within their project. He is responsible for the strategic planning, creative strategy development, interpretive planning, brainstorming, and client communications with each project. In 2010, Brian completed his M.A. in Museum Studies from the University of Leicester (United Kingdom). He also speaks regularly to various national and international museum professional associations, including the Museum Association of New York and the Canadian Museum Association. Brian is also an adjunct lecturer of Museum Studies at SUNY Buffalo State.

Jack Snyder, Vice President Creative Services
As a creative professional working in visual communications and design, Jack Snyder has over 30 years of experience in creating museum exhibitions and interpretive environments, museum retail stores and branded corporate environments. He is responsible for the consistently high-quality designs that we are recognized for and ensures that they are strategically on-target. He is responsible for initial ideation as well as overall schematic design and detail drawings for projects. Jack’s work has received recognition from various professional organizations including the ADCB, the IEA, and the IDSA. Jack is also a past lecturer of graphic design at the State University of New York—Fredonia.

John Herman, Vice President Production Services
With 30 years of professional experience in project planning, John Herman is responsible for turning 3D concepts into reality and controlling all aspects of a project’s fabrication. His responsibilities range from estimating and budget management, development of project schedules, project supervision and coordination, and inspection of fabricated elements for each project and coordination with outside suppliers and craftsmen. He also supervises project installations, manages internal staff and subcontractors, and assists with on-site issue resolution.

Steve Bukowski, Director Interpretive Services, Social Media Manager
Steve draws upon recent experience in the public history and museum studies fields to bring fresh perspectives to Thinking Outside the Square and its clients. He has taken part in designing exhibits for the Steel Plant Museum of Western New York, the Buffalo History Museum and the Burchfield Penney Art Center. Steve has a B.A. in Public History from Mercyhurst University and an M.A. from the State University of New York—Buffalo State. He specializes in interpretive planning and content development. Steve is also the company’s social media manager and represents Thinking Outside the Square on Twitter, Facebook, and more.
