Interpretive Planning and Museum Exhibition Design

During the past 30 years, cultural institutions and heritage organizations have transformed themselves from being collection-focused to visitor-focused, engaging in an audience-centered approach to fulfilling their missions. To be audience-centered means taking into account the personal context of the visitor and the holistic nature of the museum visit.

Our projects exemplify this new museum approach and reflect museums in the 21st century. We look at the museum visit in a social-recreational context, where the visitor experience is not only educational but also social, entertaining, and fun. Here, interpretive plans and exhibit experiences provide multiple learning pathways to appeal to a wide range of ages and capabilities.
